Help 'Another Child Foundation' help another child

By Claudia Loucks

NEW WINDSOR -- Another Child Foundation has added two ministry development managers to help spread the word.

Alicia Carter and Kirsten Litton, both of New Windsor, will help Tim Oloffson promote the foundation and help expand its ministry to reach, teach and transform “another child.” Mr. Oloffson, a Manlius native, is co-founder and director of the foundation working with at-risk individuals in the U.S. and Romania through a partnership with Buckner Romania.

Another Child Foundation provides resources for Buckner Romania to reach orphans and under-privileged children in Romania.

"We are the voice of the voiceless children in Romania,” Mr. Oloffson said. “For years, no one has heard their cries for help from the oppression they face daily. The children we serve are the most oppressed people in the entire world.

"This is a message that I cannot spread without more help," he said. "And our two ministry development managers will be establishing relationships with area churches, businesses and individuals."

Mr. Oloffson formed the foundation after a Moody Radio mission trip, “Shoes for Orphan Souls,” that provides shoes and humanitarian aid to Gypsy and Roma at-risk and orphaned children.

He partnered with Buckner Romania to create the Point of Hope Development Center for those children in Romania. The center includes a school in Tarneveni, Romania, for children 3 to 14 years old. It began in 2007 with 24 children; there now are 125.

Mrs. Carter said the Another Child Foundation ministry is “two-fold in that we reach, teach and transform the lives of the children and families we serve, and we also do the same for the individuals we bring alongside with us as financial and/or spiritual supporters of the ministry or those who come with us on our many summer mission trips.”

By raising support and awareness, Mrs. Carter said, “We demonstrate the love that God has put in our hearts to transform the hearts and lives of those less fortunate.” She said now that she and Mrs. Litton were hired, "ACF will have the capability to build more relationships and expand our ministry however God calls us here in the U.S. and in Romania."

The two women will speak at area organizations or meet with individuals.

In addition to Shoes for Orphan Souls Buckner Romania, the foundation also has a "$12 for 12" program for clean water and other humanitarian aid. The project seeks contributions of $12 per month for 12 months, or longer.

A Birdies for Charity participant in the John Deere Classic, the foundation also sponsors collections of school supplies, coats and blankets.

"But our largest outreach is our shoe drive, which is going on now through July,” Mr. Oloffson said. A celebration collection day is planned from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29 on the pavilion across from Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, 4700 53rd St., Moline. Moody Radio will broadcast from the event.

People can drop off new shoes for children ages 3 through 14 anytime during those hours. Mr. Oloffson also said there is room for people wanting to join the mission trip to Romania when the shoes are distributed.
